There’s an exciting new television show set to debut next month on ABC. It’s “Pan Am” and it follows the lives of the classy, elite Pan Am stewardesses during the height of the airline’s popularity in the early 1960s.
Passion, adventure and espionage… They do it all – and they do it at 30,000 feet. The style of the 1960s, the energy and excitement of the Jet Age and a drama full of sexy entanglements deliciously mesh in a thrilling and highly original new series, “Pan Am,” premiering SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, on the ABC Television Network.
Welcome to the Jet Age. It’s 1963. WWII and Korea are history. A new kind of war, a Cold War, is underway. The world is poised on the brink of a cultural revolution, and everywhere change is in the air.
In this modern world, air travel represents the height of luxury, and Pan Am is the biggest name in the business. The planes are sleek and glamorous, the pilots are rock stars, and the stewardesses are the most desirable women in the world. Not only are these flyboys and girls young and good looking, but to represent Pan Am they also have to be educated, cultured and refined. They’re trained to handle everything from in-air emergencies to unwanted advances – all without rumpling their pristine uniforms or mussing their hair. These pre-feminist women form a powerful sisterhood, as they enjoy the rare opportunity to travel outside the country — something most women in this age can only aspire to – and one of the few career options that offers them empowerment and respect.”
Pan Am will take flight on ABC Sunday, September 25 at 10 pm ET/PT.
On Saturday evening, Sony Pictures Television treated us, and several of our friends and colleagues, to a screening of the pilot episode of “Pan Am” at The University Club atop Symphony Towers in San Diego. We were greeted with flutes of champagne, scrumptious hors d’oeuvres, and a breathtaking view of San Diego.
Then we settled into comfy chairs and plush sofas to escape to the friendly skies full of romance, intrigue and espionage! This show has fantastic casting including one of our faves Christina Ricci. The premiere episode has lots of unexpected twists and turns so if it’s any indication of the rest of the series, we’re in for some fun!
When the screening was completed, we were directed to our dinner by two lovely ladies dressed as Pan Am stewardesses!
Dinner was buffet of culinary delights: gourmet salads, steak, lobster tails and sushi!
At the end of the evening, lovely PanAm bags w/goodies inside were distributed by our dinner/in-flight attendants!
Experiencing this fun event with great friends made it a fabulous evening!
The bulk of our gratitude extends to the wonderful people at Sony Pictures Television! Not only do they know how to make exciting TV shows (Pan Am, Community, Damages, The Big C and more) but they also really know how to throw a classy event!
Are you ready to board Pan Am this fall and see the world? We know we are! Thanks for flying with us. Bye. Buh-bye now. B’bye.

Stylish Camera Bags for Women
Fall is a great time to get out and take photos. The colors are fresh and bright and there is so much texture to the scenery, it never gets old. If you are a woman you haven’t had much choice in fashionable ways to carry your gear until now. Fashion is key now, and women are raising the bar, producing fabulous bags that look like designer handbags you would find in any store.
Lotus at Blissfully Domestic shows us her Jo Totes black rose bag.
The Rose, by Jo Totes – Camera Bag Review.
“The Rose comes with several velcro-functional inserts so that you can create sections as you see fit to house your equipment. Additionally you’ll find pockets on the inside – a few open ones that you can slide small items into and out of easily, as well as a larger, zippered pocket. There is also a large, zippered pocket on the backside of the exterior.”
Two other brands that have fabulous designs are Epiphanie (we love the Belle)
and Kelly Moore Bags. (Have you seen the new Juju?)
Their styles fit our lifestyle. The bags are roomy and designed so that we can easily access the equipment. We want to be fashionable, but crave functionality! I’m so impressed with what women can do when they see a need put their minds to filling that void. The result in this case is something fun and yet still functional. Your camera gear never looked so good!
After our fun with protein stains in the last Wisk (with Stain Spectrum Technology) experiment, we got to try our hand at getting out carbs.
Tailgate style. With ketchup. I know you are cringing. Maggie at Dexter’s Super Savvy Mommy and her son took on the task.
And I couldn’t resist posting about them, since cartoon Dexter is one of my favorite scientists! How fitting!
After Dexter got ketchup on the shirt, I wiped the excess off with a dry washcloth. I then poured on the Wisk and rubbed on the ketchup for about 15-20 seconds. I then let the Wisk penetrate the stain for 5 minutes. After the 5 minutes elapsed, I rinsed the shirt in warm water and presto, the stain was gone!

He’s so cute and seems like he’s got this science experiment down or at least the cute factor!
We have lots of other scientists at work. See how Anne’s little one works her magic too at Mommy Needs to Work!
Tell us what your worst stain nightmare is!

As we move into fall it’s time to change up the wardrobe, and a few of our members are sharing their purchases in a Fashion Haul video. If you aren’t familiar with the concept, woman and men are videoing their shopping “haul” piece by piece. This is a relatively new craze on You Tube (the men’s version is called “unboxing”).
Please check out Valerie (@charmedvalerie) from Charmed Valerie’s haul for the Type A Mom Conference this weekend. Her video is adorable and I can’t wait to meet her at the conference!
Danielle (@DanielleSmithTV) from Extraordinary Mommy invited us into her closet to see her haul. I personally am eyeing that handbag collection!
Have you done a haul video we should see? Link it in the comments so we can check it out!!
Want to be more eco-conscious in your wardrobe shopping? The organic cottons out there are fabulous and there are so many options for your “green” wardrobe these days. However, often being eco-conscious doesn’t mean shopping at all, but using what you already have!
Jen at Balancing Beauty and Bedlam treats us to her fabulous finds each week in her Frugal Fashionista post. This particular week she is shopping in her closet.
“This outfit was planned completely around this necklace. A few months ago, I picked up this brown, chunky, modern necklace for $1 at a yard sale, but I’ve never worn it. Every time I tried it on, I just felt it was too big. Often with large jewelry, we only stare right at the piece in the mirror and we don’t see the power of the outfit in its entirety. I think this keeps us from branching out and it kept me from enjoying this necklace earlier.”
via What Should I Wear? Shop Your Closet….
Jen found the perfect outfit to go along with that chunky necklace right in her own closet. Do you have some treasures tucked back in your closet that you need to dig out?
Gidget at Gidget Goes Home has made a pledge to not buy clothes and use what she already has!
“I’ve been getting a lot more into repurposing/refashioning lately. So, I decided it was time to make a commitment. I headed over to Wardrobe Refashion and signed the pledge for four months. That means that from September until the end of 2010 I am pledging to not buy any new clothes. I will repurpose, refashion, and buy second-hand to my heart’s content instead.”

Are you a Goodwill shopper? Yard sales? Hand-me-downs? What are some of your tips to repurpose the clothes you already have?
Some of our bloggers have been involved in a fun One2One Network campaign with new Wisk with Stain Spectrum Technology. If you remember the old “ring around the collar” commercials…
…well it’s a new Wisk today.
Our bloggers are experimenting with different types of stains to see how Wisk performs today. See how fun some of these videos are! This time it’s Proteins like grass stain…
How cute Amy at Taste Like Crazy‘s kids?
“What happens when you give a three year old a “scientist’s coat”, a pair of safety goggles and a pipette? She completely takes over! Cara wasn’t told what to say. In fact, I was planning on saying it all. That didn’t exactly happen.”
I just have to say I want Cara on my sales team.
You’ll find more cuties in action putting Wisk to the test at…
Keri a She Saved,
“….as you can see … this stuff works! (ours worked a little too good, I think … because instead of creating a smiley face on the swatch … it took all the stains out … but who is gonna complain about that?)”
Jill at Frugal Plus
“Those of you that have Son’s playing football especially need to check this out! It will do an powerful job on those football uniforms and definitely is a time and money Saver! I have some red-hot love for this bottle’s power!”
Have you tried new Wisk? We’d love to know what you think!

Kids have their own sense of style and even as early as 3 know what they like to wear and what they hate! Some kids are still trying to get in those last days of the summer wardrobe and some are already in school fashion mode.
Michelle at Honest and Truly is sending her’s back to school this week. After her daughter wearing the same dress 3 days in a row, she is looking forward to uniform wear!
Audrey at Momgenerations always has the most up to date fashion ideas and her post on TJ Maxx and Marshalls back to school shopping. Take a look at her picks for both girls and boys. And as a mother of 4 boys I’m sure she has great insight into that group! We love following Audrey for all the latest trends in fashion.
Melissa at Girlymama has a few picks that her kids would love to back to school. She obviously has great taste in classic clothes. Picking clothes that your kids will wear is key….which is why I stopped buying my kids clothes years ago! Oh and does that purple dress come in my size *sheepish grin!
How is back to school shopping going for you?
If you are a fan of summer you are probably a fan of the easy wear clothes and accessories as well. I think it’s so much more fun to be wearing a tank, shorts and flip flops than layers of bulky sweaters. But then I love the hot days of summer. See how some of our bloggers beat the heat and have fun with fashion!
Audrey of MomGenerations is ready for a day at the beach or pool with her 10 must have fashion supplies. I love summer hats, and will be checking out the Coolibar she suggests!
Planning a summer wedding? Here’s a brilliant idea shared by Molly at My Stilettos and Diapers from a wedding she attended…a box of dancing flip flops for guests! Wear your cute shoes until it’s time to hit the dance floor! You won’t be going home with feet sore from your cute shoes…maybe from too much dancing though!
Jennifer at The Dirty Shirt dresses her daughter up in adorable summer fashions from Apple Bottoms. So adorable! We love to learn about quality brands for kids, especially ones that are fashionable and cute too!
Share your favorite summer fashion must haves!
There is no need to worry over what to wear to a blogging conference because it seems everyone is weighing in with their picks and tips. And our One2One bloggers know how to shop! Girlymama and some blogging friends hit Anne Taylor Loft for some shopping and a little bonding. Not able to splurge on a whole wardrobe for the event? She also wants to remind you that you can make an old outfit new again just by accessorizing *adds to my list*.
See Sara – Super Saving Sense’s shopping trip to Kohl’s and see if you don’t drool over her finds. She shares the trip with a whrrl story and it looks like she found some great deals (all under $10, wow)! Sara is hands down a smart frugal shopper. With her Goodwill dresses she will be stylish for next to no money. Very impressed and maybe a little jealous!
What are you wearing to Blogher this year? Have some shopping yet to do or are you ready to hit it!?
