Featured Member Interview – Holly Ord

Malia | March 19th, 2012 - 11:13 am No Comments »

Holly Ord is the woman behind Woman Tribune, a site dedicated to discussing a variety of topics that are important to women. From lifestyle to entertainment to news, Woman Tribune strives to be reliable, honest, and practical. Holly has been blogging personally and professionally since 2000.  She lives in Pennsylvania, loves chick-lit and trashy reality television, and likes to spend free time playing video games.

O2O – “Do you have a favorite quote that inspires you?”

Holly – “My favorite quote of all time is from Anais Nin, ‘I, with a deeper instinct, choose a man who compels my strength, who makes enormous demands on me, who does not doubt my courage or my toughness, who does not believe me naïve or innocent, who has the courage to treat me like a woman.‘ I don’t know if it’s inspiring, exactly, but it’s a really fantastic quote full of wisdom and the power of women.”

I’m known forthe blogs I have created, the writing I have done over the years, and my lefty-feminist ideals.

I’m working onwriting more, reading more, and connecting more. Just more in every aspect of the blogging community and being as involved as I once was.

10 years from now Iwill hopefully still be doing what I love to do.

I’m currently addicted tohousework. I know it sounds weird, but it’s true. My partner and I just moved into our own home last month and ‘house me’ is so completely different than ‘apartment me.’ I’m totally invested in creating a warm space full of character, and it has been a fun and fulfilling process so far.

I find joyin the little things.

My secret ambition...is to publish a book. I have also been giving some thought to a chapbook of poetry. I used to write a ton of poems, but haven’t so much in recent years.

I can’t do withoutcoffee, books, internet access.

I’m most creativeat night, alone, when everything is quiet and still.

I admirethe hard work and accomplishments of amazing, strong women.

When I grow upI still won’t have all the answers.

PC or Mac? PC!

iPhone or Droid? Um, my computer. I have never in my life owned a cellphone, which I know is pretty much considered blasphemy these days.

Coffee or Tea? Coffee, for sure. Always coffee.

Peanut butter — crunchy or smooth? Smooth, on toast, bread, or English muffins.

Three words my friends would use to describe me: Opinionated, sarcastic, persistent.
